My rates are adjusted so that I can devote my entire attention to that timepiece while I am working on it. I am not thinking about the next job, or taking short cuts. This kind of work is as much psychological as it is physical. In my opinion, it is impossible to do good work “on the cheap”.
To my knowledge I charge less than any other reputable company in Cape Town and I would be willing to match a written quotation. My advise would be for you to visit two or more companies before handing over your precious clock for restoration. Ask to see the workshop and current projects. You will soon get an idea about the degree of professionalism of the clocksmith. Also remember that the cost of restoring your clock by giving it to an unqualified person will eventually far exceed the cost of having it done right the first time.
